Indian Legal System?

My question here it to find out about the indian legal system I hired a company for some outsourcing a while back but they have messed up and taken my money as a result Im looking to take them to court. Here in the UK you can take a company/individual to the small claims court or you can take them to the full legal sytem . The difference is small claims court is for claims not exceeding £5,000 and so small claims route is cheaper to do. Does anyone know the indian legal system and whether there are steps like this ? in the indian legal system ? or can give an overview / rough costs of the indian legal system ? befor e I approach a lawyer in india thanks

1. Indian law is based on British law. They are very, very similar across the board. I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about costs because my Indian counterparts have always paid their own legal costs, and we have paid ours.
