  1. Best to take some foreign currency and convert the rest when you get there. For conversion rates see below
  2. take it to a bank. they give far better currency exchange rates.
  3. You should always carry USD which is accepted everywhere. Moreover you cant get the currency of every country in India. Its better if you get minimum USd changed into the currecy of your destination so that in case if you want to make a call or take a taxi in the destination country its easy for you, rest all the country have money exchange in every corner or bank where you can get your USD converted into the currency of your destination. Yes if you are visiting UK, Switzerland Australia or some countries who's currecy is widely acceptable & available in India you can carry that. There will be transaction fee for converting USD to other currecny althought its very very minimal. you can check the Rate at www.xe.com Have a nice journey
  4. At Airport you will not get good rate, convert just reasonable amount. You cannot carry Indian currency from abroad. Once you are in India you will find many Authrorised exchange centres in the cities so do it there.
  5. I would say carry USD as it is acceptable in most countries. But I don't know where you are going. Remember, you will be changing INR to USD and then into another currency. So, if the currency of your destination is easily available you would be better off changing INR into that currency.
  6. Best idea is to take $100 USD cash and change at the airport. Also, better rates are when you use the ATM at the airports. Cashing travelers checks is a pain in India. Best to do it at airport.
  7. If you are carrying Dollars , you may postpone converting them until eargently required in the Country you are staying in . But if you have GBP or other Non-Euro Currency for European Country (or Euro for Non-European Country) , get it converted from a Bank at Destination Country .
