What do you think if we outsource our prison system to India and China ?
According to recent report, we have 1% of US population are criminals and the number does not include those in state prisons. Each prisoner costs our tax payers more than $40000+ every year, which far exceeds an average American family income. Such expense is almost equivalent to Uncle Sam's economy stimulus package cost. While we have been outsourcing all the jobs to India and China, why don't we also oursource our criminals to India and China ? This will help reducing the cost, getting better results for reforming those criminals, no prison escape risk, helping our federal and local economy.

- Hey! Better yet! Why don't we place our state prison inmates in our military? Then we can send them over to the mid-east and they can take place of our sons and daughters who shouldn't be in the line of fire.
- Those countries have too many human rights violations; and this country has too much wrongful incarceration. Which makes them incompatible.
- A couple of hundred years ago we (Britain) either threw criminals in the army or dumped them on Australia. Worked fine then....
- First, do you even know if these countries want our criminals to be held in their country? Would you want them shipping criminals here? I'm sure they feel the same. As far as reducing cost, sounds like guesswork to me. There will be an increased cost in transporting criminals, plus an increase in regulation to ensure fair treatment. And who says anything other than guard's pay would be cheaper. I hear Americans pay less for food than any other country. What if the cost of feeding these criminals is higher. And I say your assumption that criminals would not try escape just because they cant make it back home or cant speak the language is bull, im sure being lost in a foreign country is better than being in prison and prisoners will still risk escape. I think you are making too many assumptions. I do agree that we spend too much money on prisons, though. Maybe we should work on reforming our society and reducing crime, instead of locking everyone up.
- Works for me!
- economically feasible, politically impossible.
