Democrats or Republicans: Read the details before answering!?

CHOOSE A OR B: A: Republicans will decrease taxes on corporations. Fact: America has the SECOND HIGHEST corporation tax in the world. This is a reason many companies are outsourcing to China and India. If these companies were in the United States, there would be more jobs, stronger economy, and faster growth. B: Democrats will lower healthcare costs and income taxes on low to middle income familes. In order to pay the difference, they will increase taxes on corportation and the wealthy. This will lead to more companies outsourcing, but will also lead to an increase in quality of life to many Americans. Which do you think is better? I am not talking about Democrats vs Republicans as a whole, I am talking about this SPECIFIC debate.

  1. If President Bush's tax cut didn't lower taxes for the poor and middle class, why did the percentage of lower income people who do not pay income taxes go from 26% to 33% compared to Bill Clinton? Corporate taxes are nothing more than a business expense. Companies are left with 2 options when they are raised. The first is to pass the increase on to the consumer in the form of higher prices. We seen how unsuccessful that was with the American automobile industry which is slowing disappearing. There other choice is to move production offshore and keep prices low. That is what they've choosen to do. As a result, we are slowly losing our industrial capacity and well as skilled workers. The American people are getting what they paid for. I own a 1998 GMC Envoy with 135,000 miles on it. No problems. I own a 2006 Ford Focus. At least I put my money where my mouth is. When the Envoy goes, I'm buying another American car.
  2. answer A maybe if these companies had more money they would have health insurance allot of companies did away with the health programs they blamed it on the rising cost of insurance but being taxed nearly out of business can not help
  3. ...this is not a "debate"... this is an advertisement and "they" are both flawed.
  4. Corporations outsource to third world countries so they can increase their profit margins via wage slavery while still selling to the relatively affluent American market. This trend developed for decades, only recently being justified with the "high taxes" excuse you're giving. For most of that time the accepted mantras were ones of praise for the supposedly unalloyed benefits of global competition, and/or fear of same. I thought there was some irony, mostly lost on the public, in the way that corporate apologists would sometimes insist on the need for lowering trade barriers, and other times issue strident warnings about our need to lower our own "production costs" (wages, working conditions), in order to deal with the competition they themselves were arguing for, sometimes in the same sentence. The mantras usually included something about seductively low prices. Never mentioned was the question of how much difference low prices would make, if nobody could afford them anyway. It seemed to me there was an unspoken assumption that the great thundering herds of affluent American consumers would somehow always be there, getting their money from God perhaps, or anyway some magical source having nothing to do with working for it in jobs now being whisked away to some third world country forever. Anyway, in answer to your question, I tend to vote against things rather than for them, and I'm not nuts about some of the healthcare plans being advanced. But if rich people are horribly strapped for cash, well first I don't think it show much. Certainly the stock market has been greatly overpriced for years. Second, the global competition they worshipped for so many years might have something to do with huge gobs of American cash disappearing... into the hands of foreigners. Saudis and the Chinese in particular. No on the whole I think the republicans have been digging their own graves long enough, and what little power I have with my one vote would be best used trying to keep them from dragging myself down in that hole with them.
