Why when you go to yahoo finance the EPS of some stocks is higher than the last quarterly report of the EPS?
Also I notice that if you look at a stocks EARNINGS PER SHARE and they are higher on YAHOO FINANCE than what analysts estimate for the next QUARTER THE STOCK USUALLY GOES UP really fast and high why is this?

- First of all, on the summary page, Yahoo lists the total EPS for the last 4 quarters, not the upcoming quarters. Second, different finance analysts compute EPS differently, depending on whether they include one time charges, stock options, and etc. EPS is subject to interpretation. Third, it can take a while for Yahoo to update the EPS after the most recent quarterly earnings are reported.
