my mother accidently burned rupees 4000 currency notes of 500 denomination each. will they be exchanged??

the notes were of rupees 500 each. Will the Reserve Bank Of India exchange them..??? they are intact but burned at the ends and a little bit in the middle because they were folded.

2. In most countries, a bank will exchange a damaged note as long as you have at least 51% of it in your possession. This is not to penalize you for damaging it, but to prevent people from tearing a note in half and trying to get two back. As long as most of the note is in tact you should be fine. Otherwise, sorry :(
