which one will give me higher rate in India (from usd to indian rupees)? US Currency or Travellers cheque?

I am travelling to India and want to find out should I carry US currency or travellers cheque so that I get the maximum conversion amount.

1. An ATM debit card gets you the best rates. Check ahead to see if your bank/credit union has any partners where you are going to avoid "foreign ATM" fees. While I haven't been there specifically, this is what I have done in England, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Buy a few groceries with your debit card and get extra cash each time. Take a small amount of Traveler's checks or even a pre-paid VISA card. If lost or stolen it doesn't link to your account.
