How did the Dutch West India Company impact the colony's economy?
Please be descriptive because there are many vague answers. I read a brief outline of the History of New Netherland and it does not give a clear reason, so anyone with good knowledge of this history please help me out. Best ANSWER points to the top 3 answers!!

- Negatively. The WIC was set up as a pirateer company, to hunt for Spanish and Portuguese ships. Anything else came second. The colony in Brazil failed, due to lack of military support. The colony in North America failed because the company wanted to regulate everything and used closed shop economics.
