India and China: If they become superpowers, how long do you think they'll last?

Everyone's talking about India and China and their rapid growth. So IF they do become superpowers like the US, simultaneously destroying US trade, will they be able to last long? The US has been a superpower ever since WWI and became the strongest after the Cold War which is about 20-30 years. When these countries become the strongest, how long will they last? Or will it be like a rise and fall continous game? Sorry 20-30 years AGO

  1. The only reason why China is a 'superpower' is because companies from USA, and Europe have moved their manufacturing there. If these companies were to leave, then China would break.
  2. India will last a while. China won't because it's too dependent on US trade. The patent applications and scientific papers over the past few years in the US are a good indicator of where the country's going. Probably 30% of the patent applications show Indian surnames. Similar with professional and scientific papers.
  3. They won't last that long. China already was superpower once. Guess what - Europe (and US) have developed technologies a lot faster then Chinese. As a result, China was pretty much split between European powers. I fail to see why the same scenario won't repeat itself again.
  4. I don't think China will collapse or break up or anything. I do agree though that they won't be dependent on U.S. trade forever. As the quality of living and nationwide infrastructure increases they will have to transition from a cheap labor manufacturing economy to a more balanced economy like other Western countries. This will obviously create it's own problems, but I think its achievable for them. As long as India and Pakistan let cooler heads prevail as they have lately, then India shouldn't have all that much to worry about.
  5. China's growth is NOT sustainable. India's growth is! China heavily relies on foreign direct investment, as soon as trade declines..they are finished. Everyone thinks China is doing better than India because the slums are disappearing and are being replaced with skyscrapers, truth is the government doesn't care about human rights, they literally bulldoze a slum over, not caring who lives there and how many lives will be harmed and then build a tall building. India is a democracy, they don't do that. Rights are protected, the people and media do have some kind of power, it may not be as powerful as it is in other countries, but Indians are allowed to participate in rallies, demonstrate against something etc. See China, they blocked google, how cheap. India is growing in innovation and efficiency, the IT sector is booming, so is the automotive, entrepreneurship is growing, the stock market is more consistent, India is growing in SERVICES! That is why, the growth is more sustainable and they will be a BETTER super power. India has a larger younger population, however China's one child policy means they are going to have a larger older population, who will not be working like India's big population. If China become a super power, it's really bad for the world, they play big time politics and can send the $US crashing. Whereas, if India becomes a super power, it is only seen as OPPORTUNITY! It's better for the world. China has recognized India's potential, they is why they are helping Pakistan with nuclear technology and funding Maoists to attack in India, attempting to the curb the growth. However, India has one of the strongest military in the world.
  6. China practically owns the USA. They hold the majority of debt which is in the 10's of trillions of dollars. China is the worlds Economic Super Power. If China were to dump that debt on the USA it would severely cripple our Economy (worse then recession we are dealing with now). Consider this Chinese Politicians are now telling US Politicians not get involved in their business. China has cheaper labor less regulation and the Attorneys can't legally extort money from businesses there. I know a lot of self employed people who have small-medium sized businesses. The vast majority wish they had sold it 5-6 years ago. All except for government subsidies are shrinking industries. This doesn't include fortune 500 companys which send everything they can over seas for cheap labor.
  7. India is NOT super power just for show off and get votes from masses with no mind to get votes to grab power it is propagated in media that way. China can crush India in any near war. Before also China without being super power proved in 1967<<< History books India can never become because in 2010 census they asked religion and also caste. That means it is going to fight among and never rise. I felt ashamed to give that all info being in my twenties when it this all going to end and merit only counts for jobs and education? NEVER for votes. So never India can even equal China. Don't trust fake films that show all fancies. China is united under red hat. India is even today divided with religion and caste.
