Wal-Mart disappointment...selling out to 3rd world?

I was in Wal-Mart the other day to buy a coffee grinder. 4 were available:3 MADE IN CHINA, 1 MADE IN INDIA... Needless to say, I cannot purchase a product made in a 3rd world country, with a 1st world price, and selling out the American consumer. If I have to spend an extra 5-10 dollars to find something made in America, Germany, France, Canada, then I'll buy it. Anyone else feel strange buying stuff Made In China?

  1. Congratulations for finally noticing. Wal-mart is evil. Don't shop there. Now try and find something that is Made In America..anything will do.... I'll wait for you..... okay, done? Your next question on Yahoo Answers will be: Why isn't anything made in America anymore? The answer is: Because American Companies are greedy and it is easier to exploit the Chinese than it is to exploit Americans because they dont' live by the same rules we do. =)
  2. what´s your problem? are you so greed that you don´t want other to succeed? Did you know thousand of 3rd world country children die every day because they don´t have work, money, and other means of living??? comon! not even because it´s xmas time!!!!
  3. I'm glad to see people are opening their eyes to this. It seems quite impossible to buy something that's made somewhere else than China. We (Americans) are slowly strangling ourselves. Wal*mart isn't the only store where this is a trend. It's everywhere. Funny, since moving to Canada, I see more things made in the US than I did back home, and I try to buy American made goods when I can. It seems, for the most part, we no longer have a choice. Yes, I do feel VERY strange buying stuff made in China.
  4. Good Patriotism !! America pushed globalization on other countries to sell their products and now they are at receiving end !! The computer you type is made in China . The software you use is made in India or by supported by Indian Companies . The car (if reliable ) is made in Japan or Europe. Your phone set is made in China ... so what is your problem in buying from Walmart ?? Don't worry dude the medical profession is going to Indian or Chinese ..as Doctors and Nurses you see in hospitals will be Indians ...Engineering they have almost taken over ...study well else you will loose your Job :)... Americans started building houses with containers !! ..It means more goods are coming in than going out .. Learn to understand the economics of globalization before you make any ugly remarks ...good luck with your 1st world product search !!
  5. We reap what we sow....american worker with only a H.S. diploma demands they have the right to make $18 a hour to sit on the assembly line so prices go up... so the american comsumer refused to pay...$50 for coffee grinder...so they buy the one made in China and the American made one is off the shelf.
  6. I would rather not say you are delusional but because you are such a chicken as to not allow people to E-mail you through Yahoo I'll shoot your argument full of holes in public. Anyone who thinks because China and India are third world countries knows nothing about what those countries are doing today. They are proving daily they can produce quality products. India and China are today what Japan was in the 50's and 60's. Their economies are growing at a rapid pace and right now their labor costs give them a tremendous advantage. But growing economy means a bigger consumer market. As their standard of living increases that labor cost advantage lessens. It will average out in the end. So before you go throwing that 3rd world status on China and India you should look at how much they are consuming and what they are making. It's not just shirts and shoes any more. Do I feel strange buying stuff made in China? Actually no. My Dell computer was made in China. Damn good unit. I buy stuff from the people where I can get the best VALUE. I'll buy a Toyota or Nissan instead of a Ford, GM, or Chrysler(who are owned by Damlier) because the ones I've had didn't fall apart after 50K miles. American made used to mean top quality at a reasonable price. You can gripe about Wal-Mart all you want. But Wal-Mart saves the poorer people of the US money. And if Yuah in China has a better life because of Wal-Mart buying what he makes I'm all for it. If you don't like his working conditions you go there and unionize him. What makes China and India different from Canada, France, or Germany? Is it they have unions? If that is the only reason, it's not good enough for me!
  7. I would, if only it worked.
