What is the difference between a tubular battery and an SMF battery?

Is tubular battery also a kind of SMF (sealed maintenance free) battery? If not, how does lifetimes of these two compare (assume products made in India)? Which one is safe for indoor use (for inverters)?

1. tubular batteries r with this openings at top to add distilled water for maintenance and safe running of the batteries!...wheras the smf(sealed maintenance free) ones r sealed completely..say like a normal pencil battery....tubular batteries r rugged and used in heavy end....trucks,household and lost of other areas of uses! smf batteries r smaller and used in lower end uses like ups,inverter and emergency lights.... for indoor use go for the sealed ones but they r expensive compared to tubular!!!
