How do you change currency?

I live in India and I got to receive some money from my friend in U.S.A. How do I change US Dollars into Indian Rupee? Please tell in detail cuz I don't know anything about it.

1. just go to the nearest bank or money changer. they know better
2. Try going to a local bank and getting the money changed. If that doesn't work, then try and find a near-by Bureau Exchange to change the money there. Hope this helps.
