How does foreign charitable funds affect our economy and that of the giver country?

Foreign funds are received by many Indian NGOs, Religious Institutions and Individuals for charitable projects, donations, sponsorship, etc. How does this flow of money affect the economy of the giver country and the reciever (India)? Does it cause depreciation of the rupee? Does the giving benefit the economy of the giver?
