Money Exchange in Portugal? I usually go to Lanzarote and exchange my sterling t/cheques at Indian shops.?

These Cig/booze shops give the best rates commission free. I have not been to Portugal for 25 years and cannot decide what to take?-- Euros, sterling t/cheques or what? Can anyone who has been recently suggest what is the best option, please!

  1. Bring some euros....but you will get a better exchange rate in Portugal for euros....so only bring maybe €100 and then exchange there. Alternatively what a lot of people do is bring a debit card and withdraw at ATM's.
  2. Bring euros, since it's the local currency. Exchange your money in banks, it's the sensible thing to do and I can't think of Indian shops that exchange money in Portugal. Bringing a credit card is also a fin choice, as is bringing a debit card since there are loads of ATMs around.
