Hi, What are the usual expatriate benefits that can be expected in Bahrain?
Position: Senior IT Project Manager in a Bahrain Bank Nationality: Indian Experience: 16 years Education: B.E. Current Location: Singapore. Pl. help me by listing out the various benefits that can be expected/negotiated with the employer (other than basic salary). Please provide me an indicative range in BHD for each benefit 1. Housing 2. Transport 3. Child education 4. Health Care 5. Yearly paid vacation with return airticket 6. Bonus 7. End of service award 8. Any other benefits? Thanks in advance

- Expatriates in Bahrain are provided with lots of benefits these days and I think that you may be entertained with almost all of these above mentioned benefits over there.
- 1. Depends on your contract. Many organizations exclude housing from their offers, others give an amount (usually BD400), while others provide accommodation. 2. Also depending on the organization, many companies give transportation allowance, for a manager it is usually BD100, while others provide accommodation. There are others who exclude it as well. 3. Most of the organizations do not provide this benefit, only few do. If they do, they usually cover up to BD1000 per year for a maximum of 3 children. 4. Most organizations provide medical care that covers in-patient & out-patient services. The benefits differ from company to company, but most companies cover most of the hospitals in Bahrain. 5. Most companies, provide annual economy class air tickets for the expatriate employees and their families. 6. Depending on the organization, usually banks do give bonuses and other profit making companies. There are no rules as how much they pay and it is never mentioned in the contract. Government organizations usually do not give bonus. 7. As Bahrain labor law states, each employee is entitled to half a basic salary for the first 3 years, then a full salary from year 4 and above. Some companies pay their employees on a yearly basis, while others provide it only at the end of service. Many companies, give a full salary for every year from year 1, but they can never give less than the law. 8. Other benefits may include, guaranteed bonus regardless of performance, club membership and others. All this depends on the company also. GOOD LUCK
