  1. Outsourcing is cheaper. We don't have to pay minimum wage. We should limit it, and Obama's plan will by not giving tax breaks to companies who do it (like Bush started), but in this economy especially, outsourcing makes business sense. Besides, you assume Americans would be all gungho for the mindless factory jobs. Some might be, but most of us have a complex where we think those are "below us."
  2. Do you think manufacturing products such as these are considered good jobs? I certainly don't.
  3. Yup, outsourcing, tax breaks for corporations, NAFTA, are all reasons why companies send many jobs to foreign soil. The only employment opportunities Americans who have nothing past a High School Diploma, GED, and an Associates degree are unstable jobs at Walmart, and Fast-food restaurants. EDIT: Very true wacky, quite true.........
  4. Good one! Does anybody. who's old enough, remember those "Made in the USA" commercials back in the day?? Those days are long gone....sad EDIT: To Orsen, good answer, but you might want to add to anybody who has anything less than a Doctorate degree....education is priceless but the economy makes it seem like it's worthless.....
  5. all of those items you mention were manufactured overseas but for the most part designed in America. There are great jobs all over America especially if you have some education. Right now is a great time to take some courses at a specialty school like ITT tech. If you have no education you can build your skills and get some great jobs in the service industry - landscaping, painting, janitorial etc - but even in those careers the more education you have the better off you will be. Bring passion to whatever you do and you will be able to find a great job. I pass a security guard every day who really only opens the door for people - but every day he brings so much joy to so many people by greeting them with smiles and laughs. Bring on your heart and fill your life with joy. There are great jobs in America. It is tough right now with so many people losing the jobs they have had for years but America is resilient and we will bounce back from even this.
  6. Why would anyone start, or expand a business in the U.S. when they will only be punished for trying to get ahead? They will be taxed so they don't make profits, pulled before congress every couple of years and have to defend themselves in courts with expensive lawyers because they made some money. Have every piece of their lives scrutinized unless they support Democrat politicians. Yet these are the people who EMPLOY people. They risk THEIR money on business ventures and are given nothing if they fail (except for the saving and loans on which the Democrats made millions or the Union shops that support Democrats like the United Auto Workers). In addition, several Democrat politicians have stated OPENLY that the profits from PRIVATE Companies was going to be confiscated and given to their social programs which reward those who don't produce anything...but more babies and more overhead. That is why you can't find a good job (if you actually can't find one) in this country.
  7. You can't find things made in america because no one wants to buy crap. Can you make cars that are as good as those made in Germany? No,you can't.Can you compare the blackcurrant juice that passes as wine, made in america for real wine made in France? No you can't.I can't go through everyone of the products that you have mentioned but it is the same, except for any of the s*it that is made in China.
  8. You have to keep in mind that if the whole world won't buy the things "MADE IN USA",now USA could be as poor as Africa.Every country needs to do trade with other countries,it is called "Free trade".It's part of the globalization.
  9. i miss the days when the labels (products) we all grew up with were made in the good old usa. when i was a kid, it was a novelty to HAVE something that was made overseas. in my opinion, things WERE better in the good old days. i know not everything was, but in regards to your question. besides, there's too damn much "stuff", anyway. edit..to the guy up there, the usa doesn't make crap. i'd rather buy usa anything else, if given the choice.
  10. good one, star for you!
  11. It's a shame isn't it - A once economic power has out sourced it's future.
  12. Geesh! I'll take the car made in Germany! Mine is made in Japan! lol!
