Does this explain our job shortage?

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 A.M. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE INMEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JO B. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia) (with tech support in INDIA), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.. AMERICA.....

  1. welcome to capitalism...it's the reason why america is #1 in the world...because we import and export. And as for job shortage, you'll be alarmed to find out that the unemployment rate is below avg of last couple decade and on a steady drop. That's actually the one thing Bush should get credit for.
  2. Since most of those products were designed in the US, he didn't look in the right place. And since US unemployment is the lowest that it has ever been, he didn't look very hard.
  3. RHSaunders - while I do not disagree with the principle of what you are saying - this is the second time you have put forward the absolutely false claim (with nothing to support it) that unemployment is the lowest it has ever been. Given that June 2007 was 4.5% and that it was consitently lower than this from the onset of WW2 to 1970 and then again from 1998 to the middle of 2001 (Bush actually inherited an unemployment rate of 4.2%) and that this data is readily available how can you be so wrong and keep being so wrong despite having this pointed out to you?
  4. You my friend cant understand the new era we are in where we come up with ideas and other people ( and soon robots ) make it
  5. that one of reason why you are able to afford them cheap labor the world is changing.best thing you can do is figure out where you will fit in and get there quick or else you will be sorry
