When was the last and only time India made the FIFA world cup finals?

They did not paly in it due to a minor rule

10. The only time India managed to qualify for a World Cup was 1950 in Brazil. However, Indians weren't accustomed to play in formal football boots and played barefeet. Thus failure of meeting requirements lead to their forfeit. Another interesting fact, is that India didn't have a foreign exchange so all the prize money for making it to the Finals would just go down the drain.
