  2. Indian currency is printed on the system known as 'minimum reserve system'. Under this the RBI has to maintain a minimum reserve of Rs200 crore, in terms of Gold and foreign exchange. Of this the value of Gold should be atleast Rs115 crores. The point to be noted is, this reserve is only the backing and not proportionate to the currency in circulation.
