Does anyone know if Indian currency is easily exchanged in Phuket? The last time we had been to thailand, they didn't accept INR in the airport and it was difficult getting exchange in Pattaya.

- Indian currency shows up on this bank link: http://www.bangkokbank.com/Bangkok+Bank/Personal+Banking/Foreign+Exchange/FX+Rates/default.htm And this bank too: http://www.krungsri.com/eng/exchange01.aspx I would think that you would get your best shot at Suvarnabhumi Airport. You could also try a credit card with national affiliations like Mastercard and Visa. Tell your bank first that you will be overseas. However, this forum on "Indians in Thailand" may answer your question better! ThaiIndian: http://www.thaindian.com/forums Use the SEARCH function and enter "rupee exchange" and several posts will come back. Good luck.
- Instead of cash try using an ATM card and also for backup have some traveler checks.
- It is very easy to exchange Indian currency in Bangkok and in Pattaya. I have done so more than once at both the places in 2007 and 2008. Many bank outlets on Beach Road and Walking Street in Pattaya display exchange rate of Indian currency. In Bangkok also many banks in Sukhumvit area exchange Indian currency. No idea about Phuket.
- you should have no problems exchanging your money in major tourist destinations. You might have difficult time in the provinces which are not visited by tourists often such as isan (north easy) for example. Chaing Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, Bangkok will be no problems.
