Does anyone else who has visited countries South of our Border, noticed this ?
When I traveled throughout Mexico, Central and South America, frequently when you have to get in a line in a public place, people will actually push their way in front of you if they think you will allow them to cut in front of you. I notice that this is not done anywhere near that way in the USA. I found this to be true in Mexico, India and to some degree Central American countries as well. Do you think this is the reason these folks who come here in such an intrusive way, do this because of their cultural orientation in this regard. I also, was somewhat dumbfounded at how there always seemed to be numerous armed guards standing around Bank and money places with heavy duty machine guns, uzi's etc. to protect the booty. One would guess that there is a chance that these banks get robbed frequently or the attempt is made. Is this all a sign that these countries are a great deal more wild and wooly than here in the USA. It seems to me this is a cultural thing. What do you think?

- I think India doesn't share a border with us. I think I've had plenty of Americans cut in front of me in line in the US. Just had 3 do it at lunch today. I think you're making dangerous generalizations about cultures you don't understand.
- WOW, I thought I smelled xenophobia.
- Ya....he who has the biggest club...the biggest mouth....the biggest group wins. I have experienced that alot lately. Signs...pick a number.....wait in line like everybody else....heck no...we are here!!! We are screaming!!! There are 24 of us and 2 of you....we win!!! We are stronger...we are the best...we win!!! If there are more of you, and if you have a bigger club....we will scream "minority", "discrimination", "racism".....and we still go first and get more. Something wrong with this picture isn't there?
- The Chinese could teach classes in line cutting, yet their behavior does not reflect this when they come to live in the USA. The difference is that they are willing to assimilate. Celebrate assimilation, NOT diversity.
- Very good question, it is very common here to see those things on a daily basis and everyone lives in cages or walled, often with broken glass on the top, yards. Mexicans must not trust Mexicans much. Maybe we should think about that.
- Your comments seem quite racist. Your obvious prejudice and lack of respect toward the people of other countries is the reason why you were dumbfounded. Your statments are ridiculous.
- I've travelled down Baja to La Paz and have taken the ferry across to Mazatlan... Before the highway was completed. I've noticed that you only see the push/shove behavior in the cities. One striking thing from that trip I remember vividly was crossing a toll bridge heading north from Mazatlan. The toll was about 10 cents converted to US currency. On both ends of the bridge were machine gun nests with Browning .50 cals manned by a gunner and loader. The point being if they'll kill someone for not paying a 10 cent toll...robbing a bank would get someone very dead in a hurry if someone made the attempt. All that said, I've also travelled to Japan and Hong Kong. If you want to see line cutting and a push/shove mentality just go into the shopping districts in either of those 2 countries. All part of the travel experience. :)
- Wow, I'm in Tulincingo, Pachuca, Mexico right now and have been here off and on for the last 9 months, and I have not seen a sign of pushing and shoving all the time to get in front of others in line, other than maybe little children pushing and shoving. For the gun deal at banks and other big money banking places, they have that sort of thing because most don't have systems like ours were we have cams in every corner, and if something did happen like a rubbery its not like you can call the police and they can chase them down the streets in a car chance or somewhat since the roads are very, very small, and they don't have security guards in most places like they do here. Just because you see men with large guns standing near the entrance of a store or bank does not mean it gets or has ever gotten robbed before. Its not America, its Mexico and that's how they do it here!!
- i have been to quite a few places in mexico and have never seen people pushing their way in line. i also have not seen uzi's at the banks. I have seen a tank with a big gun at the customs checkpoints, but only there.
- I think if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones. The US has serious crime problems and it doesn't matter whether you are in the suburbs or the cities. Furthermore, I've seen bank guards here in the US and I certainly see the murders and robberies reported on the evening news. Stop trying to make it appear as if people from the countries you mentioned are any worse than Americans. Your not so subtle point was noticed. Didn't you find anything positive when you were trekking through those "wild and wooly" countries? You came back in one piece, didn't you??
