what is the most powerful international currency and why?

like if it was the american dollar...why is it the most powerful? though i'm sure it's not. and for that matter what is the most powerful currency's value of the least valued currency? for example if it was a USD than 1 dollar would equal 50 indian ruppees.

1. US dollar has been the international standard for a long time. There are two reasons for this. One is the American control of the IMF and World Bank, and the other is that for years USA demanded that all trade in oil be conducted in US dollars. Recent troubles and the loss of control over the major oil reserves have led to a weakening of the US dollar as the international currency and the rise of the Euro as the international standard.
