Was I too paranoid and overreacting?

Ok, I have a blogger where I have a public profile that and left a preference open where "fans" can contact me. As a result for leaving my email open, this guy who goes by the name of "Kumar" is from India and has been trying to contact me and have a fun online chat. He was hitting on me by asking how old I was and if I had a boyfriend. I told my friends and mom about this online Indian guy, and they said be wary cause I never know if he's a criminal or not and NO, I didn't give out any personal info, all I said was my first name and what state and city I live in...hard to track, but still, I'm scared that he'll track me down getting my SSN and bank info. So I panicked and jumped online having the following conversation with him earlier tonight: ME: hi, are you a criminal?? your not from india, I heard about you people on Oprah. I've done my research, next thing I know your gonna want my personal info, well **** you!! I was an idiot to even chat with you last night! your a ******* piece of ****!!!! a criminal!!!! YOU ARE CRAZY!!! KUMAR: ha ha ha u are really crazy and u do not have sense it seems, i never lied to u .. and u wrote me all these words ME: YOU ARE NOT FROM INDIA, WHERE ARE YOU FROM??? KUMAR: well thanks, www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com and at the bottom i have my contact details and this is my site ME: GOD I'M SUCH A FOOL KUMAR: now i can think of how an american speaks ..i never found any one else like u so far i have respect for americans i have served tehm 18 months with microsoft ME: it's just that I told my friends about this chat and they said that you might be a criminal and a *** ****** out to steel my info, so I panicked!! I WAS REALLY STUPID TO CHAT WITH YOU!!! KUMAR: u know i love to talk in english and my accent is totally american and i love to speak .. this is my profession ME: HAH HA HA YOUR A CREEP YOU PROBABLY LIVE 30 MILES AWAY FROM ME AND I'M FREAKING OUT!!!! KUMAR: ok u can report better to police .. and give them mycontact number and tell them that u chatted with a criminal from india ..i will wait for their call okay ! happy, it make is laugh and funny how you guys think ..now i think that you are a criminal .. lol 20 minutes later after driving to my friend’s place… KUMAR: have you reported to police about me .. ME: NOT YET BUT I WILL KUMAR: ok .. I am a bit afraid now ..lol ME: sorry I don't know who you are, talking to someone you don't know over the internet is dangerous KUMAR: yes .. may be .. they can cheat you ME: whats your address? KUMAR: why should i give you my address ..? ME: cause I wanna report you KUMAR: you are going to report me and you as asking my address from me .. hows is that possible cant you report without the address ..? ME: I know how you people work, you pray off others like me asking me to send money to fund your plane ticket or whatever and then you want my full name, and blah, blah, blah and then eventually you'll track down to my tax info and steal my identity and basically ruin my life then wa-la my identity is stolen and then I kill myself KUMAR: ha ha ha ME: you're a criminal, your not getting anything from me!!! Indians are not poor today ... look top 4 5 6 and 9 richest men in this world are Indians…i think you have its common in USA to cheat pple over the internet .. and next is me ME: so what, those so called billionaires are rich cause they stole that money, they didn't earn it! ok whatever, i'll take a look at that stupid site KUMAR: wow! what a concept you have, ok ME: how do you change social security numbers?cause I have a feeling your after mine Offline message from KUMAR: i think you afraid too much ... dont worry i will not bug you until you show some intereset to talk to me; take care bye So do I need to let my guard down a little more? or was I smart to defend myself?
