- The Indian rupee is a closed currency i.e you can not take them out of the Country, allthough you can change them in a few places in England you would get a better rate in India
- I just came back from India today. I was getting 69 rupees to the pound in a local shop, whereas Western Union were only giving 63. The Indian rupee is a closed currency and is therefore difficult to get outside the country. Wait until you get there would be my advice. Re: using cash machines, that very much depends on where you are going and also whether your bank charges you for foreign withdrawals.
