Was it to stop them switching the trading currency of crude oil from USD to EUROS? If EURO was the number one currency then USA would lose its position as the super power of the world eventually, right? So they invaded and removed Saddam and installed a slave government who would keep the currency of oil in USD. Therefore saving the US economy from a recession. If you have been sleeping this past year - the recession has started regardless. Anyway, IRAN are currently contemplating switching to EURO - this is why they too, have been threatened by USA. Bush recently visited ISRAEL, I wonder what they discussed. Will USA make ISRAEL attack IRAN? ISRAEL is supported by the USA because it is a slave government. They are given nuclear weapons - whilst IRAQ and IRAN are threatened with invasion because of thier want of nuclear POWER! Is the 'War on Terror' really the 'War to keep USA number 1'? This is were it gets interesting - the USA has so much power, these middle eastern countries have no chance right? RUSSIA and IRAQ have strengthened their ties - CHINA too. Nuclear power/weapons are currently being made in RUSSIA for use in IRAQ. RUSSIA has threatened EUROPE with attacks if IRAQ in invaded. Another major player is INDIA. A 100 years from now, the invasion of IRAQ could be seen as the trigger for WW3. Iraq was going to take euros for it's oil instead of US dollars . Thus undermining the dollar as the wold reserve currency .

George W. was retaliating over remarks Saddam Huesein made about putting a contract out on his father, George, Sr. He was also flexing muscles and got caught up in it all, to the point he couldn't back down without egg on his face. Oh, yeah, there was also the economic standpoint of controlling oil (yeah, like that was going to happen) and those elusive Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
