Why does the media only show India as an economic success?

It is extremely filthy, overcrowded and backward. I've seen people take a crap on the sidewalk. In Mumbai alone, the homeless and the slum dwellers make up about half of the population. The variety and quality of goods and services offered is very poor. Most stores are extremely tiny and only offer basic items. There are no chains e.g. like Walmart where you can get everything you need in one stop. Very often things are spoiled or expired on the shelves. The economy is very protected still and its very expensive to import anything, and products which are made locally are very poor quality. For example, light bulbs which last only 2 hours and burn out. Why isn't the everyday reality on the ground in India exposed?

1. I'm not an Indian but would like to comment on it. No doubt India is been shown as a developed economy, but the reality is different. In Mumbai its the biggest shanty town there, people many people have food less nights and even days- But what I think we should not ignore is, India is really trying to improve alot. People are so excited to learn new technologies and are really inspired by Hollywood. Its not bad to be on the good side, and India is very good in learning and adopting ,,, and then by applying its thinking to it, they are seen to be smart. In short, India is a developing country so they should accept it and should try to eliminate their poverty by all means. And should stop showing themselves as citizens of a developed country. No offense, just posted my personal views.
2. India has the most conglomerate of religious beliefs, everything from eternal life and paradise to setting themselves afire and/or total disbelief in anything. No where else is there more stupid superstitious beliefs. All the primary modern religions had a basic foundation and derive from India's superstitious religious beliefs. They have a great University and an educational center to be envied. So; they do produce great professionals and super intelligent minds. Indian medical doctors abound in America but lo and behold these too are religious fanatics.They are filthy rich and return to India to reafirm their religious indoctrinations. In India a man can declare his wife unworthy and she will be killed. This is done today, even with all their educational facilities. The world is afraid of China and India due to their modern economic success, ambitions, and over population. They both have enough Nuclear power to destroy the world. Therefore America treats China and India with utmost careful diplomacy. Not mentioning much of their gross human rights violations and their insensible religious beliefs, as we here in America have insensible religious beliefs. The free world cannot and should not continue to believe and worship in religions based on drinking blood and flesh and sacrificing of animals and human beings.
3. just cause u live in a country tht has achived independence 200 yrs ago, no one has given u the right to look down upon ppl of developin nations.. the reason india is said to be a developin nation is cause its goin thru alot of social nd economic reforms... u cant generalize all products nd services jsut cause one product was bad... try tastin indian mangoes... they r the sweetest in the world... and all the calls tht u make to ure customer care.. well an indian is answering them.... nd btw... sunita williams is also a person of indian origin... nd if indian economy wasnt strong, the dollar wud not hav depreciated!!!!!!!!!
4. Because it is *new*. We are generally of the thinking that India is poor. And it in general is. But what is new and surprising are all the areas of wealthy people springing up. And, India's GDP is growing fairly rapidly since it freed up its markets. So, that is why the media is showing that India is an economic success: not because it is a wealthy country all over, but because it has made some real progress lately.
