One of the parts of it is to figuire out if a persons religious background or culture have anything to do with what their views are when it comes to the Death Penalty.

  1. well first of all why do you need to know this
  2. 1) c 2) none, Atheist IS NOT a religion 3) no, every case has it's reason, what if that person wasn't acting on his own free will 4) no, too many innocent (meaning the people who was later found not guilty, but was already executed) people have been killed by it, it's some thing that can't be undo once it's done 5) no
  3. Hispanic Christian/Catholic No, becuase he can have other penalties besides death. No, i don't killing someone does not bring other back. In the bible it says "an eye for an eye" .......God spoke those words not man....so no....my parents let me believe in anything i want, i don't really know their opinions on this, but mine....who are we to say if a person deserves to die?
  4. 1-g,2-c,3-no because alot of people kill and not everyone gets death penalty. its not fair 4-same answer as #3 5-no
  5. 1) a 2) h 3) a, eye for an eye. If you have no respect for other's lives why should anyone care about yours? 4) a, see above 5) No
  6. 1) A 2) G 3) B. Because killing people to teach killing is wrong is kinda stupid. Actually, really stupid. Doesn't matter how henious the crime. 4) B. How fair can it be if people are exonerated all the time? If you're executed and then proved innocent after, isn't that a miscarriage of justice? 5) Not really.
  7. 1. a 2. g 3. b, I don't believe in the death penalty because the justice system is flawed and too many innocent people have been sentenced to death. 4. No, same as above. 5. My background nor parents have influenced me. I've always thought for myself. When I was a lot younger I was not against the death penalty until I educated myself and grew wiser.
  8. 1. a 2. h 3. no, because i do not believe in the death penalty 4. no, because they could be innocent, and life in jail sucks more than your life just ending 5. no, no
  9. 1. b 2. h 3. b. The government does not own the individual. And that person can rehabilitate. 4. b. - Is a vengance solution and not a justice one. - It cost a lot of money to the government. - It has not proved to lower crime rate. - Its usually only for men. - Its usually only for poor persons (mention only one rich person that have had the death penalty). 5. I am an anarchist and do not believe in the integrity of the state. History have teach us that when the state have the power over death and life of their citizen, they tend to abuse it.
  10. 1. a 2. e 3. b - I do not condone the killing of animals. How can it be OK to kill people? 4. b - It has been proven to be biased, 5. My Buddhist culture has influenced me greatly.
  11. 1. What is your background? Im going to go with Other. 2. What are your religious beliefs? Im pretty athiest 3. A man walks into a Bank and attempts robbery. Due to stress and nervousness, he kills 2 hostages. Should he be given the Death Penalty? No, i don't believe the death penalty should ever be an option. 4. Do you believe that the Death Penalty is proper and fair? NO. People can come up with all sorts of arguements which mostly boil down to 'an eye for an eye'. When it comes to killing a person i fundamentally believe that it doesn't matter what THEY are/did, it matters what YOU are. If you support the death penalty you are as much a murderer as anyone. 5. Has your culture/religion/background in any way influenced your decision? In a way yes. I live in the great land of Oz and we done have Capital punishment here, yet lo and behold we are not swimming in crime.
  12. 1. Mostly A, but with a bit of C and E thrown in 2. Mostly G (If you can count it as a "religion"), with a bit of E 3. B, he should just be given a fair amount of time in prison after his mental state is tested 4. A and B, it really depends what they have done 5. Nope. Unless you include political beliefs.
  13. 1. a 2. c 3. a (yes), it was a premeditated act to go into a bank and threaten with bodily harm / death and he followed through on his threat. 4. a (yes), it IS a deterrent in spite of what the ACLU thinks, no executed criminals become repeat offenders. 5. No, but having a cousin murdered did influence my decision.
  14. a h:pagan b: he will receive his when the negative energy hits him back 3 fold b:who are we to judge what is right for someone else i believe my spirituality defiantly influences all of my decisions, and my parents raised me to have a mind of my own.
  15. Yes of course my background has influenced me on this decision, it does on many things. But even if I didn't have that background I would still think it's wrong. People who charge the death penalty should technically be also put on the death penalty because they are doing the exact same, right? So tell me how can anyone live with a death on their conscience? Well there is always the apology but that isn't always meaningful when someone has died. The death penalty doesn't bring back a life but simply leaves the world with another life gone. And we say other countries are barbaric when in America they still use the death penalty.
  16. 1 - a 2 - h 3 - a Why? There are too many people on the planet anyway. Finite resources and finite capital are very real issues. Why should my taxes support a person who is a liability to society when I can't even afford health insurance? Why should I suffer just to support him? We need a punishment to deter the crime, not a guarantee to have a free ride. 4 - a In some instances the death penalty is fair. It should be mandatory for people who abuse power (corrupt politicians) or victimize others. 5 - Of course my background has formed my opinion. I have seen how victimizers get away with murder. It normal in the US. Unacceptable.
  17. ... I do not support capital punishment...nuff said.
  18. (1) caucasian (2) Christianity/Catholicism (3)NO.......this was a tough one, i'll give you that. I'm more of a a believer that premeditation is a big part in the death penalty process. (4) YES.........I believe we need the death penalty as a form of deterrent. If there were no consequences, I believe the crime rate, already high, would skyrocket. (5) I don't believe so. My family is more anti-penalty than pro-penalty. We actually have had heated debates about this. I've always been a strong minded individual, not easily influenced by others. If I agree with something, it's because of the reasons behind it, not because of personal influence. The world has enough sheep. Good question, by the way.
  19. 1. A 2. H 3. Sure, let him out of his misery. 4. Yes, when it reduces the risk to society 5. No, my reasoning does. I believe that there are many for more cruel and unusual implements of torture than the death penalty. I think that it is a "get out of jail free" card, but justified in cases where if that person were to get loose, great suffering would ensue. My mother and I disagree to why one should be killed, though we agree that the death penalty is good. I would like to see a great many pedophiles tied down in death valley, inches from water and food, left to die and suffer. In many ways, the death penalty is kind and human. Commit a great sin, and you don't have to live with regret. I am in favor of ***holes being locked in little tiny rooms, with no light, water and old bread for sustenance. Why should we treat serial murders and rapists with respect, when they show none to others. the same crime they inflicted should be doubly inflicted upon them. It even out their karma, and they will perhaps seek an fortunate rebirth next time.
  20. 1. A 2. C 3. B Because even though he took the lives of others, that does not justify us taking his life. 4. B As I stated, a death for a death is not right, or to put it clearer, two wrongs don't make things right. 5. Yes, my dad, and also the doctrine of the Catholic church has shaped my way of thinking when it comes to life issues.
  21. African American Christian (AME) I don't believe that we have a right to take another's life so I don't believe in the death penalty. What if the person who is about to die is truly innocent. We are finding out that in the 50's and 60's black men were arrested with either little evidence or fabricated evidence. And if you don't believe that is still happening then you are naive. My decision on the death penalty is cultural as you might suspect. However I will throw in one bible verse.... Lev 24:17. Bible supports the death penalty.
  22. 1. a. Caucasian 2. c. Christianity 3. b. No. Because I don't think we have the right to take anyone's life, except out of self-defense. What if he would have gotten saved, had he remained alive? We should not deprive a person of the chance to reform themselves into a better person. Perhaps he would have made a true change, and written books to help others with anger, or a life of crime or whatever. Also, it is bad enough that the robber's family have to mourn over the fact that their family member has committed a terrible crime and must spend life in jail. To kill him is probably more painful to his family than it would be to the robber himself. We have no business in punishing the family like this. 5. Probably, but I think my parents may be for the death penalty, so I didn't get it from them. But I did get from them the view that human life deserves to be respected, and that we should always forgive people and give them a chance to redeem themselves. Of course, my belief in the possibility of salvation comes from my Christian beliefs.
  23. 1. a) Caucasian 2. c) Christianity not catholic 3. a) YES, Why? I think that each situation could have different facts in regards to this question, but I look at it this way what if it was my wife or one of my children or a close friend that was on the receiving end of this persons transgression. What will be the deterrent for others who feel this is there only course of action. Death begets Death. 4. a) Yes, Why? I believe it is important to set examples for every situation in life. To show everyone that there are consequences for all courses of action being good or bad. It is what parents teach there children everyday either in the way they live there life, the discipline they dish out, or in the rewards earned for a job well done. Society should not be any different in its lessons, as harsh as it can some times be it is necessary and appropriate. 5. b) no. I am at later in life Christian and I held these beliefs before hand. I believe my faith strengthens them.
  24. 1. a 2. g 3. No, I do not believe in the death penalty, in any case. 4. No. After I read The Green Mile by Stephen King, I changed my mind about the death penalty. Poor Mr. Jingels! He missed De La Croix so much, even though he was a pedophile and an arsonist. I also wonder how many innocent people have been executed. In fact, it takes a toll on many people who are most definitely innocent (families, prison workers, etc). Finally, it is a very expensive process to go through. It is actually cheaper to just keep them in prison for life. 5. Not my religious background, just the book I mentioned. No, my parents did not influence my opinions. j-r
  25. 1) a 2) g After that, the questions and answers are murky. Personally, I'm iffy, at best, on the death penalty question. I believe that our judicial system is far too weighted in favor of those with money and/or influence for it to be applied fairly. But I also feel that those who have murdered children deserve absolutely NO mercy if thier guilt is 100% proven. I also feel that way about those who have murdered anyone in a particularly heinous manner. To me, it's a hard question. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  26. 1) a 2) c, although your distinction between "Christian" and "Catholic shows bias 3) No. The state has no right to take the lives of people. 4) No. Capital punishment is too easily abused to calm community fears rather than satisfy justice, by going after easy prosecutorial targets, usually the poor and minorities. 5) Yes. EVERYONE'S opinions are influenced by their experiential backgrounds. My opinion is influenced by religious background, my parents opinions and social statistics, yet it doesn't perfectly confirm to those of any of these.
  27. 1) g 2) g (no religious beliefs) 3) b The death penalty is a savage medieval thing. It has been abolished in every modern civilized countries. 4) b same as above 5) I live in the E.U. Countries have to abolish the death penalty to be members of the union. There was an efftcient public school system in the country I was raised in so religious delusions and superstitions quietly faded away many years ago. I never discussed the death penalty with my parents.
  28. 1) Caucasian 2) Atheist 3)No. 4)The DP is state sanctioned murder. You can't show that killing is wrong by doing more killing. The DP is not fairly applied (more non-whites than whites are put to death). It's more costly than life imprisonment, it's barbaric and it has been proven an ineffective deterrent to crime. 5) I don't have a religion to influence my decision and I've never discussed the matter with my parents.
  29. 1) White 2) Other 3) Yes. He committed murder during the commission of another felony. This warrants the death penalty. 4) Yes. It is justice & due process. This is the penalty society has laid down for certain acts and crimes. 5) No & no.
