the US economy into submission?

- It's impossible for an advanced country like the United States to engage in free trade with third world countries. All treasure and labor will flow to the country with the lowest wages and labor standards.
- our economy has already been choked into submission with the occupation of Iraq and NAFTA the Bush Sr. was the first to sign. I think it's time to change things and put the working class back to work and stop shipping jobs overseas. The US hasnt been able to compete with anyone because of free trade.
- Free trade but the federal govt has been screwing with this since the depression, hell, even before the depression. As far as I can read between the lines of the US Constitution, the government has zero business regulating free trade. The founding fathers were obviously right.
- I believe you Republiclones would like to see American workers compete with China/India workforce. They have broken all the unions, and would love to see their fellow citizens working for a dollar/day. Our goal should be to improve the standard of living for all Americans, not lower it to that of a banana republic.
- This administrations idea of free trade is to let other countries ship their goods into this country without restrictions while those same countries impose tariffs on our exports in order to force us into economic submission. Quit listening to Rush LimbaUGH.
- Free trade is a great thing and China and Indias growth is highly dependent on american exporting of jobs. But if america were to allow complete comeptition right away, it would be bad for the U.S. economy since India and China can now do white collar work for a third of the price as in teh U.S. the democrates wanna slow down the exporting of jobs so that when we start complete free trade India and Chinas cost of living will be higher and then the only reason to export jobs is if they are more qualified, not cheaper. Its better to have Indians and Chinese come to america and work then just give them the jobs. Expecially since our product exports have barley grown. That would mean with a smaller middleclass in America, means less americans buying american products and even teh rich will lose. Globaliztion is inevitable and will soon have everyone in the world be on a equal playing feild. But although for teh producers domestic investment is inefficent and costly, we need to wait untill our markets adapt first to help compete at a more even playing feild. Obama just wants to encourage domestic investments. And tax companys on where there market is, if americans buy it americans should make it. If chinese buy it chinese should make it. We need a middle class . Anyways it was a democrat = Bill Clinton who created NAFTA
- I am not a socialist nor am I a liberal. However, we just can't compete. One US worker is equal to about 5 or more Chinese or Indians. We can't compete with that. What we can do I think is through tax breaks and penalties, make it more cost effective to hire inside the US and less profitable to have a company outside the US. Also, we shouldn't look for highly skilled workers outside the US. Hire them from inside the US and allow visas for immigrants to do menial labor. Let those immigrants come here, work, contribute in taxes, and allow them citizenship. In the mean time, they gain a better life and can later on work their way up the social ladder like my ancestors who came to this country.
- of course its possible US exports maybe expensive in certain areas but demand for US products is still high. People in these days of globalisation and rise of china and india seem to forget that america still is the biggest economy in the world and the quality and maturity of US products and industries makes it a more than welcome to people who can afford it globalisation is not a one sided phenomenon it works its wonders and miseries both ways
