Can I maintain and trade US brokerage account from India? I already have scottrade but going back to India.?

Dear Friends, I am in USA on work visa and I am trading stocks using Scottrade. I am planing to go back to my country and want to continue my trading and want to maintain the account from India. Can I able to do that from India. Appreciate any responses. Please advice. Thanks.

  1. Certainly, you can keep your trading account and your stocks. I have several international associates wwho maintain trading accounts in the US. Once you legally reside in India, you will be subject to Indian tax laws and reporting requirements. That I cannot help you with. Also, you will have to work out an arrangement with your broker if you want to add money or receive cash distributions from your account. Good luck.
  2. It would depened on the firm that you do business with, unfortunately I don't think you can get that answered here.
